About Unit Converter
Convert values across length, mass, temperature, area, volume, speed, time, and data storage units. Pick a category, enter a number, choose From and To units, and see results update as you type — all client-side.
How to use
- Select a category (length, mass, temperature, area, volume, speed, time, or data).
- Enter a value and choose From and To units.
- Use Swap to flip direction. Results appear immediately for valid input.
Conversion rules
- Most categories use exact SI or internationally defined factors between units.
- Temperature converts among Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin; values below absolute zero (0 K) are rejected.
- Data storage uses decimal SI prefixes: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, 1 MB = 1,000 KB, and so on — matching common disk marketing units, not 1,024-based KiB/MiB.
- Months and years use a mean Gregorian year (365.2425 days) and a month as one twelfth of that year — suitable for duration math, not calendar date arithmetic.
Common uses
- Travel, cooking, and fitness conversions between metric and US customary units.
- Engineering homework or quick sanity checks on area, volume, and speed.
- Translating advertised storage sizes (GB/TB) without mixing decimal and binary assumptions.
Tips
- When comparing RAM or filesystem sizes that use KiB, convert manually or use a binary-aware reference — this tool’s data category is decimal.
- For temperature, pick the unit your source material uses first, then swap to the display unit you need.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about the Unit Converter.
How does the Unit Converter work?
Choose a category, enter a value, and pick From and To units. ToolsArk converts instantly in your browser using exact SI and international factors. Results update as you type.
Does my data leave my device?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser. ToolsArk does not upload values or call an external conversion API.
Which units are supported?
Length (mm, cm, m, km, inch, foot, yard, mile), weight/mass (mg, g, kg, tonne, ounce, pound), temperature (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin), area (m², km², ft², acre, hectare), volume (mL, L, m³, US gallon, UK gallon), speed (km/h, mph, m/s, knot), time (second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year), and data storage (bit through TB).
Are KB, MB, GB, and TB binary or decimal?
Decimal SI prefixes: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, 1 MB = 1,000 KB, and so on. This matches disk-marketing units, not the 1,024-based kibibyte (KiB) family.
How are months and years defined?
A year is the mean Gregorian year of 365.2425 days. A month is one twelfth of that year. Calendar months and leap years vary, so use this for duration math, not civil-date arithmetic.
