About this word counter
Paste text or upload a plain .txt file (up to 5 MB) to see live counts for words, characters, sentences, and paragraphs, plus estimated reading and speaking time. The tool also shows the top ten keywords by density. Copy or Download exports the editor text as word-count.txt; Clear resets the editor. It does not read PDF or Word documents.
How to use

How counts are calculated
Word and sentence boundaries follow simple heuristics suited for general prose, not linguistic analysis. Reading and speaking times use standard WPM assumptions shown in the UI—they are estimates, not deadlines.
- Keyword density ranks how often normalized words appear relative to significant words (after common stop words and very short tokens are excluded)—not relative to the raw total word count.
- Counts update as you type; there is no separate “analyze” step.

Tips
- For PDF or DOCX content, paste plain text exported from those apps—direct upload is not supported.

Words are whitespace-separated tokens. Character totals include spaces; a without-spaces figure is also shown when available in the stats. Sentence and paragraph counts follow common punctuation and blank-line boundaries, which can differ slightly from other editors.
What is keyword density?
The table shows the most frequent words after excluding common stop words and very short tokens. Density is calculated against that significant-word set, not the raw total word count. It is a quick writing aid, not a full SEO audit.
