About Text Summarizer
Shorten long prose with extractive summarization in your browser. The tool scores sentences from your source text and selects the most important ones — it does not call a generative AI model to rewrite or invent new wording.
How to use
- Paste text or upload a .txt file (up to 5 MB).
- Choose length (Brief, Standard, or Detailed) and output shape (Paragraph, Bullets, or Key takeaways).
- Click Summarize, then edit the result if needed before copying or downloading.
Extractive summarization
- Summaries are built from sentences already in your document, which keeps claims closer to the source and avoids cloud uploads.
- Past about 50,000 characters, the UI notes that large inputs may take a moment; input hard-stops at 100,000 characters.
- English prose with clear sentence punctuation works best; other languages may parse unevenly.
Common uses
- Skim reports, articles, or meeting notes before deeper reading.
- Pull bullet highlights for email forwards or study outlines.
- Produce a quick takeaway block when generative rewriting is unnecessary or disallowed.
Tips
- Verify numbers, names, and dates against the source — selection can miss nuance or context.
- Use Detailed length for dense technical text; Brief for news-style pieces.
- Key takeaways format helps slides; Paragraph reads more naturally in documents.
Limitations
Extractive output may feel choppy or omit counterarguments. It is not a substitute for human judgment on legal, medical, or financial material.
Privacy
Summarization runs locally. ToolsArk does not upload your text or call an external AI API.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about the Text Summarizer.
How does the Text Summarizer work?
ToolsArk uses extractive summarization in your browser. It scores and selects important sentences from your text, then shows them as a shorter overview. It does not call an AI model to rewrite or invent new wording.
Is this an AI summarizer?
It is a local extractive summarizer, not a cloud AI writing model. The summary is made from sentences already in your text. That keeps facts closer to the source and avoids uploading your content.
Does my text leave my device?
No. Summarization runs entirely in your browser. ToolsArk does not upload your text or call an external AI API to create the summary.
What formats can I choose?
Choose Brief, Standard, or Detailed length, then Paragraph, Bullets, or Key takeaways. After summarizing, you can edit the result before copying or downloading.
Will it invent facts?
Extractive mode selects existing sentences, so it should not invent new claims. Always review the summary against your source, especially for numbers, names, and dates.
Which languages are supported?
The tool works best with English prose that uses clear sentence punctuation. Other languages may work when sentence boundaries are similar, but ToolsArk does not claim multilingual AI quality.
