Image Converter

Image Converter changes the file format of an image by decoding and re-encoding it in your browser with canvas APIs. Typical inputs include JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, and TIFF when your browser can decode them, up to 20 MB. Outputs include JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP when encoding is supported.

Quality controls apply when you choose JPG or WebP output. Animated GIFs are converted from the first frame only. Formats without transparency replace transparent pixels with white, and the UI warns when that applies.

1. Upload an image (supported types within the 20 MB limit). If the browser cannot decode the file, conversion will not start.
2. Pick the output format: JPG, PNG, WebP, or BMP, depending on what your browser can encode.
3. Adjust quality when JPG or WebP is selected; other formats ignore quality.
4. Click Convert, review the preview if shown, then Download the converted file. Use Reset to clear and choose another image.

JPG and WebP are lossy at most quality settings below maximum; they suit photographs and gradients. PNG preserves sharp edges and transparency but produces larger files for photos. BMP is uncompressed and usually large; it is mainly for compatibility with older software.

Converting GIF to a static format drops animation and uses frame one only. Converting PNG with transparency to JPG or BMP fills transparent areas with white. Some TIFF variants may not decode in every browser; trying PNG or JPG as output after a successful load is more reliable than assuming all TIFF features carry over.

• Turn PNG screenshots into JPG for smaller email attachments when transparency is not needed.
• Produce WebP versions of JPG or PNG assets for modern web stacks.
• Extract a still from an animated GIF as PNG or JPG.
• Save a decoded TIFF as PNG or JPG when the browser can read the source.

• Read transparency warnings before converting logos or UI captures to JPG or BMP.
• If WebP output is unavailable, try PNG or JPG or update the browser.
• For smaller file size after conversion, open the result in Image Compressor.
• For specific pixel dimensions, use Image Resizer after converting or on the source file.

Conversion happens on your device via canvas decode and encode. ToolsArk does not send your image to a remote conversion server.

Decoded pixels and the converted blob exist only in the browser until you download or reset. ToolsArk does not retain copies of your files.

• 20 MB maximum upload; decode support varies by browser and file variant (some TIFF files fail).
• GIF animation is not preserved; only the first frame is used.
• EXIF metadata, ICC profiles, and multi-page TIFF semantics are not preserved.
• BMP and WebP encoding may be unavailable in some browsers; pick another output if Convert fails.
• Does not resize, crop, or batch-convert multiple files at once.
