PDF Split

PDF Split divides one PDF into new files based on the mode you pick. Pages are copied with pdf-lib in your browser, so layout, text, and image quality on each page stay the same as in the source.

Upload one PDF up to 20 MB. Choose Extract (specific pages into one PDF), Every page (one PDF per page), or Custom ranges (one PDF per range you define). When the result is more than one file, ToolsArk packages them in a ZIP download.

1. Load a PDF by dropping it on the zone or choosing a file. The tool shows page count after a successful read.
2. Select a mode: Extract, Every page, or Custom ranges.
3. Enter page numbers or ranges as prompted. Pages are numbered from 1. Use commas for lists and hyphens for spans (for example 1,3,5 or 1-5 or 1-3,7,10-12). Invalid or out-of-range values are rejected before splitting.
4. Click Split & download. One output file saves as a PDF; multiple outputs download as a ZIP. You can also download individual files from the results list when shown.
5. Use Clear to unload the PDF and reset the form.

Extract builds a single new PDF containing only the pages you list, in first-seen order. If the same page number appears more than once, ToolsArk keeps the first occurrence and ignores later duplicates—pages are not repeated in the output.

Every page creates one PDF per page in the document, named by page index. Custom ranges creates one PDF per range segment you specify; each range keeps pages in order within that segment.

• Pull one chapter or signature page out of a long contract or manual.
• Split a scanned stack so each page can be filed or renamed separately.
• Export slides or figures from a PDF booklet as individual files.
• Share only selected pages without sending the full document.

• Confirm total page count in the UI before writing ranges so you do not reference pages that do not exist.
• For non-contiguous pages in one file, Extract with a comma-separated list is usually simpler than many small custom ranges.
• If you need one combined file again, use PDF Merge after splitting.

Splitting uses pdf-lib locally in your browser. The PDF you select is not uploaded to ToolsArk or an external API for processing.

Output files and ZIP archives are generated in memory on your device and offered as downloads. Network activity is limited to loading the ToolsArk page itself unless you use other online services separately.

• One source PDF at a time, maximum 20 MB.
• Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be parsed in the browser and will fail.
• Does not merge split parts back automatically; use PDF Merge if you need a single file again.
• Does not OCR, redact, or rotate pages; it only copies existing pages into new documents.
• Extremely large page counts may take noticeable time or stress browser memory.
