PDF Tools

PDF Tools covers everyday PDF file chores that usually force a desktop app or an unknown upload site: combining documents, extracting pages, and shrinking oversized files. The three live utilities — PDF Merge, PDF Split, and PDF Compressor — run with pdf-lib in your browser.

They are aimed at students combining assignment packets, freelancers assembling client deliverables, and anyone who needs a quick page extract or a smaller PDF before email or form upload — without installing software for a one-off job.

• PDF Merge — choose this when you have two or more PDFs and want one file in a chosen order (up to 20 files, 20 MB each, 40 MB total).
• PDF Split — choose this when you have one PDF and need specific pages, every page as its own file, or custom page ranges (ZIP when multiple outputs).
• PDF Compressor — choose this when the page set is already correct but the file is too large; pick Low, Balanced, or High to trade embedded image quality for size.
• Do not use Merge to “remove” pages — Split first, then Merge the pieces you want. Do not use Compress hoping to change page order — Merge handles order.

• Combine a cover letter PDF with a multi-page proposal before sending one attachment.
• Extract only the signed pages from a long contract for your records.
• Split a scanned packet into one PDF per form when a portal accepts separate uploads.
• Compress a photo-heavy PDF so it fits under an email or application size cap.

Merge, Split, and Compress process PDFs locally in your browser with pdf-lib. Files are read into memory on your device and are not uploaded to ToolsArk servers or a third-party conversion API for these tools.

Your browser still loads the ToolsArk site over the network, and downloads may be cached by the OS. Tool pages describe session behavior in more detail; see also the Privacy Policy for site analytics and cookies.

• Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be opened in the browser and will fail.
• Per-file limit is 20 MB; Merge also caps 20 files and 40 MB combined queue size.
• These tools rearrange or re-encode existing PDF content — they are not full PDF editors (no free-form text editing, OCR, or form filling).
• Very large files or page counts can be slow or hit browser memory limits on low-RAM devices.

• If you need both a subset of pages and a smaller file, Split first, then Compress the result.
